An earlier post on our website mentioned prayer shawls that are being knitted or crocheted for our First Nations brothers and sisters who suffered traumas in Residential Schools. For those interested in knitting or crocheting a shawl, the following links may be of assistance for patterns, tips and prayers:
Knitting and crocheting instructions: http://shawlministry.com/instructions.html
Knitting patterns: http://shawlministry.com/knitted_patterns.htm
Tips and additional patterns: http://shawlministry.com/tipsheet.html
Prayers while working: http://shawlministry.com/prayers.htm
These are simply suggestions to assist as there is no set pattern or specific size. However a for a general guideline shawls could measure 24” x 60”, or alternately the width can measure from the nape of the neck to below the waist and the length could be from fingertip to fingertip (with outstretched arms).
