Cookies for a Cause

The CWL has teamed up with St. Joseph’s Project Advance group to encourage parishioners to pledge donations to this year’s fundraising drive. A saying goes, ‘the way to a person’s heart is through their stomach’. We are willing to bet that it’s also a way to their wallet. This year, each person pledging a donation to Project Advance will walk away with a designer bag of tasty cookies baked by a CWL member. The bags that will hold the cookies are specially designed and decorated by our PREP students. (Have a look at the pictures below to see the artists at work.) It is a great opportunity for our CWL ladies to work together with the PREP students and Project Advance team to make this year’s Project Advance a success.

Donations made to Project Advance fund our Catholic churches, schools, and charitable organizations. Funds donated are used to feed the hungry, clothe the cold and naked, comfort the grief stricken, shelter the homeless and abused, introduce Christ to those who do not know Him, and so much more. It is a cause that our CWL council is proud to stand behind.

We ask the members of our CWL to support this project by baking cookies and packaging them in the specially designed bags.  Every weekend (from April 28 to May 27), the Project Advance team will be at each of the four masses, and will need a minimum of thirty bags of cookies per weekend. We would love to have 3 ladies sign up to provide cookies for each weekend (and ladies are more than welcome to sign up for more than 1 weekend if they wish). Each volunteer is asked to bake 40 cookies for their assigned mass, and package them with four cookies per bag. We do ask that the cookies be nut free due to common allergies. The decorated bags in which the cookies will be packaged will be distributed at the next CWL meeting on April 24th. There will also be a sign up sheet for each weekend. If you have any questions, please contact Rebecca at or 604-837-2521.

We look forward to this project and thank you all for your support.
